Halloween Peeps in a Jar

Sept. 29, 07

How cute is this? Easy to make also. You can use any type of Peeps to make this for any holiday. The tags on the jar are stamped from Batty For You from Stampin Up! Click the link to my Stampin Up Website for more info.

Reduce 1 sleeve graham crackers to crumbs and layer all of the crumbs in the bottom of a 1 qt. jar. Place 8 Peeps standing up, facing out around the inside of the jar pressing them against the glass, but don’t squash them. Carefully, spoon 1/3 c. Brown Sugar into center of the jar to support the Peeps, pressing down to keep it snug. Pour 1 1/2 cups holiday M&M’s over the brown sugar.

Decorate the lid of the jar however you please. You could tie curly ribbons around the neck of the jar and attach Halloween tags.

Directions: Empty the jar contents into a bowl. Snip the Peeps into bits with kitchen sheers or cut up with a knife. Return the Peeps to the mixture and mix well. Melt 1/2 cup butter, add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Pour this over the dry ingredients, mixing well. Pat into a greased 8x8 baking dish. Bake at 350°F. for 15 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.

I have done a variation of the True Friends card below and a really cute card out of Pomegranate and using the scallop punch to make flowers. I used Pumpkin Pie ink over the Pomegranate on the flowers, much to my surprise I really liked them together.

Halloween Sour Cream Containers

Sept. 22, 07

I made these tonight because I felt like doing something I didn't have to think a lot to do. These sour cream containers were perfect! I filled them with Halloween candy, won't they be perfect for handing out to the Trick or Treaters or for a school snack? Inside this one are mini candy bars and candy corn.

Use a piece of 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece of card stock, stamp as desired. Place adhesive across the bottom of one long end, and sticky strip along one short side. Peel your sticky strip and roll into a round tube shape and adhere. Squeeze the end that has the adhesive on it together. Put that end into your crimper and roll up and back three to four times. Add your candy, and add a strip of adhesive to the end.  Put that end in the crimper and roll back and up three to four times. Decorate as desired.

Thanksgiving Card- True Friend

Sept. 21, 07

I love this set and at retreat learned just what a versatile stamp set it is. It is in the mini catalog so if you want it be sure to order it before the end of November because it could be gone. I'm hoping it goes into the big catalog but who knows? We stamped all morning with this set and made 5 different cards with it, all with a different look. I'm going to get a lot of use out of this set! To see this stamp set and the ribbon, click here and go to Online Catalog and then to our Holiday Mini Catalog.

Here is the Thanksgiving card we made with it. I love our new Chocolate Chip Satin ribbon, it feels so good. You could tell when someone picked it up for the first time because everyone was commenting on how it felt.

I really like this card and it is easy to do. I love pink and green combos! This is one of a dozen cards I have done using the Winter Bright Kit just so you can see how versatile it is. With this kit you can make up to 60 cards from it, adding the paper for the card backing. I've made 6 recipe pages (6 x 6 size) and 8 cards so far. I've used about 1/3 of the package so far. The round pink Joy on the card below is one of the stickers from the set set on a Dimensional.

To see this package click here and go to Online Catalog and then to our Holiday Mini Catalog. These cards would be great for the kids to do also!

Halloween Criss-cross Card

Sept. 20, 07

This was my first attempt at this card. I used the tutorial at SPS by Beate Johns. I tend to read my instructions too fast and made a mistake right at the beginning while cutting the card. I didn't realize we were using all of the paper so I made my first cuts wrong and had to start over. My Bad! It didn't take me long to figure out I needed to slow down and start over. This is the learning as I go part... Once I started over this was a very easy card to make.

Project: Criss-Cross Card
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Pie DP, Creepy Crawly DP
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi
Stamp Sets: Batty For You
Products Used: Scallop Punch, Round Tab Punch, 1 3/8 Round Punch

My Stamping Corner

Sept. 19, 07

It has been a busy couple of weeks. I got my area all set up for working in and I think I am really going to enjoy it. Everything is within arm's reach which makes it easy for me to keep it organized. I really did outgrow that 3 drawer cart (this is how I started out with my first order) you see below my desk in the work area. One can only imagine what this corner will look like in 6 months if I did all this in the last month. The great thing is I am having a great time doing it all. Now I just have to get busy with some projects for Christmas for all of you.

Here's a picture of my area. This room is in my office and my computer desk in on the entire wall on the other side of the room.

Retreat!

Sept. 17, 07

I went to a fantastic retreat my upline Joann did last weekend and learned lots of new techniques and met many new people. I had the best time. We stamped from 9 AM to almost 11 PM. I was having so much fun that I forgot to watch the time. We did so many cute projects that we ran out of time and I didn't get them all finished. Here's a picture of some of them.

The Halloween Jar in the back is something I did before the retreat. The card, bag, clipboard and luggage tag were done at retreat.

Just as I was leaving my husband walked into the hotel where our retreat was worried because I wasn't answering my phone and it was late. He just doesn't get it! LOL...

Chocolate Lover's Kit

Sept. 14, 07

I made this to use as a Hostess gift for an upcoming party.

How fun is this? Their is a recipe card is shaped as an apron that can be pulled out and taken to the kitchen. There is also a Dove Chocolate Bar, Hot Cocoa with a Chocolate Spoon and Brownies with Chocolate Kahlua Sauce. I would say this is pure chocolate overload! Wouldn't you?

All of the tags are stamped and embossed. The bag is made from our 5-1 envelope maker with a square reinforced bottom (thin chipboard) so it can hold the weight of the enclosed items.

What hostess wouldn't love this kit?

Project:  Chocolate Lover's Kit
Paper:  Chocolate Chip Designer Paper, Vanilla CS
Ink:  Versamark and Chocolate Chip
Stamp Sets:  Label Classics and Labelicious
Technique:  Embossing
Materials:

Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon, Large clear bag for brownies. I used our 2 way glue to seal the bag and found it to be resealable. Thin ribbon for apron ties.

I embossed all of the tags with chocolate chip ink and clear emboss.

First Workshop!!!

Sept. 3, 07

I had my first party today and signed up my first downline. I decided to do 2 cards and a make and take that was made using the french fry template with a Halloween design. Everyone enjoyed doing it. I also did a couple other projects using Autumn Apparitions. I wanted to show what a versatile stamp set it is. My hostess was Becky who also served some great food after the demonstration. I should of taken a picture but she had done some fancy sandwiches cut out in Autumn designs, fresh fruit skewers, chocolate dipped strawberries and a frosted soft sugar cookies that her girls helped to decorate. It was delicious and we had a lot of fun.

Coloring with Markers

Sept. 2, 07

Have you noticed that there are some great new sets with a bunch of sentiments or images on one block in this year's new catalog? For instance, see Block Party, pg. 38, or So Many Sayings, pg. 17, or Happiness, pg. 118. Take a good look and note that if you simply color a specific word or phrase or image, that that one big image has lots of uses. Today I'm sharing a tutorial on using markers to refresh your memory as to how to do it the SU way.

Directions:

1. Use a marker to apply color to the stamp. Ink only the part of the stamp you need.
2. Add other colors if desired.
3. "Breathe" onto the inked image to remoisten the ink before stamping onto paper.

Tip:
1. For a more muted, watercolor look, spray a fine mist of water on the stamp instead of breathing on it.
