Reindeer Holiday Lineup Card

Sept. 29, 08

Here is the last image from the Holiday Lineup Stamp Set. I just can't help but use the googlie eyes with these images. I also used a small pom pom for Rudolf's nose. The reindeer are watercolored on watercolor paper.

If you have been wanting the new Vanilla Hodgepodge Kit it will be available to order on Oct. 1. Don't forget to look into my Frequent Stamper Program! I'll have details soon on our Huntsville Stamp Camp coming up in October if you live in this area. I'd love to have you come!

Plans are underway for my stamp studio. I've ordered a new desk from Pottery Barn and my room gets painted in 2 weeks. The big question is what color to paint it. I am waffling between doing it Red Riding Hood Red and Certainly Celery and Pink. Decisions, decisions! I'll post some pictures when it is finished.

The Elves Have Arrived!

Sept. 26, 08

Here is another card stamped with the Holiday Lineup Stamp Set. Aren't these elves just darling? They are water colored on watercolor paper and I used googlie eyes again for the eyes. I just love that look and the 3D effect it gives faces.

Halloween Pillow Boxes

Sept. 25, 08

Here is a easy project and perfect for school treats or those Trick or Treaters that will be showing up on the doorstep soon. They are made with an exclusive Stampin' Up! Big Shot die and the Batty For You stamp set. I was so happy when this set made the catalog. The pillow boxes will hold a fun size flat candy bar like a Hershey's or even a gift certificate, or how about both? I think that is what I am going to do for our neighborhood kids. I love it when they are all dressed up, especially the little ones! I know Lola will have to greet everyone also, I am looking for a costume for her also. Since my surgery she has been at my side or on my lap constantly, she is really loving it when I stamp because you know how she loves to help.

For those of you that have asked about my knee surgery, I am doing fine, my staples have been removed. I should of done this years ago!

Holiday Lineup Cards

Sept. 25, 08

I was unsure about buying this set when I first saw but after seeing some cute cards made with it, I took the plunge. The images watercolor beautifully so I am really enjoying this set. I did a couple of different color combinations for you. Tomorrow I will post one of the holiday elves stamp and one of the reindeer. I decided not to put sayings on them so they could be used as general note cards for the winter or I could add one later depending on the occasion. All of the background papers used are new Ski Slope DSP available on Oct. 1 out of the mini catalog.

Winter Wishes

Sept. 23, 08

I made these cards on Sunday and can't believe how wonderful the images in this set are. This is a stamp set from the mini catalog that is available Oct. 1. This is also the set I spotted while at Convention when touring Riverton. I just love the skating image! I did the card in 2 totally different color schemes and like them both.

On the first card the ribbon used is also from the mini catalog, it is the Alpine Originals Ribbon collection. You get the striped ribbon and 2 rolls of the brown felt ribbon seen in the bottom photo. On top of the brown felt ribbon is a piece of Pink Taffeta Ribbon that has just been gathered with a needle and thread loosely.

Back With Y'all!

Sept. 18, 08

Thank you for all our your get well wishes! I finally feel good enough to start a little stamping after my knee surgery and stamping means posting! I had both of the cards below made already so I will share them today with you.

Stampin' Up brought back Bloomin' Beautiful with the new Fall-Winter Catalog. I was so happy to see it made it into the new catalog. I love coloring these flowers!

Project  Bloomin' Beautiful Card
Paper: Pink Pirouette DSP, Red Riding Hood Red CS, Pink Pirouette CS and White CS
Ink: Pink Pirouette, Red Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss and Creamy Caramel
Stamp Sets: Bloomin' Beautiful
Accessories: Designer Buttons

This is another card I had done to show you before my surgery. I am not sure if I like it or not. Several people have picked it up and have said they liked it so here it is.

When I got out this stamp set I had no idea where it was going to go. I fell in love with the shell Christmas tree with the set but the snowman just kept beckoning to me. So first I had to make some waves and found some Bazzil edging I had that I could trace out onto Pacific Point paper. After I cut the waves I used chunky glitter and Tombrow glue to give the waves some bling. I then stamped, colored the fish and snowman with our markers and then cut them out. I used Dimensionals on the fish to give them a 3D look. I used Crystal Effects on the snowman's surfboard.

Happy Birthday to My DH!

Sept 8, 08

My husband's birthday is this week while I am in the hospital and I made this card for him using our Sticky Numbers.

The numbers are covered with Chunky Glitter. The cupcake is stamped and colored with markers. It took about 15 minutes to make the card so it falls into the easy peasy class of cards.

Another Sizzix Purse

Sept 7, 08

I stamped with some friends yesterday and took my little Sizzix Purse with me to show them. Kathi says to me, you know we have paper to match the chapstick, don't you? Of course, I had forgotten so we all made them using the Sweet Always paper.

Isn't it darling? Christy also suggested that it could be used with Stampin Spots inside as hostess gifts and the pockets could hold gift cards.

We also made some cards and the first one was designed by Kathi Jenkins. It uses the baby wipe technique on glossy paper which I had not done before. Karen also showed us a cute Halloween card but I'll wait until she posts it at SCS to post it here.

The image is from the Haunting Wheel from Stampin' Up! The background is done with So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Eggplant ink on our Glossy card stock.

A Rose Is A Rose Card

Sept 6, 08

As promised here is my A Rose Is A Rose card I did the other day. I love the way this one turned out. It is so pretty IRL. The large rose is cut out and layered as are some of the leaves. I've discovered also that I love 2 step stamping! I hadn't done much of it because I was scared of my Stamp-a-ma-jig. Okay, I have said it and now can move on. Now that I have played with it I don't know how I have stamped without it!!! Also the little ferny (is that even a word?) things are from a Martha Stewart punch (gasp).

For those of you that have asked, my MIL is doing great. My DH is on his way home today trying to get ahead of hurricane Ike that is coming. It sure has been an active hurricane season this year! To my friends in their paths, stay safe!!!

How Would You Like These Guys At Your Door?

Sept 5, 08

I almost didn't order this set and now am so glad I did. It is fun to color and makes a cute Halloween card. After I finished these 2 cards I had another card in mind immediately to do and hopefully will share that one next week with you. I used the aqua painter and inks and did 2 images at the same time and did the card 2 ways.

I added some googlie eyes to both images.

Pocket Silhouettes Card

Sept 4, 08

I got out my Pocket Silhouettes stamps today and a piece of our fabulous Parisian Summer DSP. I love all of the patterns and papers in this designer paper! The flowers are stamped with Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla. This is an easy and quick card to make.

Paper:  Chocolate Chip CS, So Saffron CS, Mellow Moss CS, Very Vanilla CS, Parisian Summer DSP
Ink:  Chocolate Chip
Stamp Sets: Pocket Silhouettes
Accessories: Vanilla Ribbon, Square Scallop Punch

I'm posting early tonight so I can finish up a card I started tonight with more of A Rose Is A Rose but with layers. I love cutting out (big groan), I've heard the complaining, but I love the 3D depth it gives to the cards. I want to get it done early because my mini catalog order comes in the late AM, and I am waiting for those Halloween stamps I ordered. I am trying to decide if I want to add some Dazzling Diamonds or not. I'll decide in the light of day, sometimes for me that works best. I use 2 Ott lights when I stamp in the evening but sometimes it is not enough when I am thinking I want to add just one more step.

I'm going to try and get a bunch of stuff stamped that I can take with me to the hospital next week to color while I recuperate. A twist got thrown into our plans today when my MIL fell and broke her hip and shoulder this AM. My husband took off for Florida to be there for the surgery and then he has to return for mine on Monday. Life is never boring as my mother says!

A Rose Is A Rose Card and Some 2 Step Stampin'

Sept 3, 08

I finally got this set out last night to play and it is fantastic! I'm going to spend some more time stamping with it today and see what I can come up with.

I used the Big Shot again, the Bigz Top Note, a exclusive Stampin' Up! die. The background is Sanded and the greeting is the one with A Rose Is A Rose. Be sure to get out your *Stamp-a-ma-Jig™ to do the 2 step stamping!

Baby Big Shot Scallop Note Card Favor

Sept 1, 08

I made another one of these this morning to share with you. The directions are here, it is our September Project of the Month.

The buttons are made with the Big Shot also. Aren't they cute?

Parisian Summer Upsy Daisy

Sept 1, 08

I decided last night to jump on the Big Shot Top Note card wagon. I also love Upsy Daisy and they are the perfect combo! Don't throw away the piece of card stock that you cut it out of. You can use that as a frame. I'll do one today to show you.

To make this card I colored the stamp with Bravo Burgundy and Mellow Moss markers. I lightly spritzed the stamp before stamping on the very vanilla. I sponged lightly with Mellow Moss around the Top Note before layering. You will see when you cut the Top Note that there is a perforated line around the paper. You can trim away that part to create the layering you see here.

It's All About the Layers!

Sept 1, 08

Happy Labor Day! We're going on a picnic tomorrow so I'm posting this tonight. This card uses my favorite Bella Rose paper, the Dreams du Jour stamp set and lots of layers! 5 of them to be exact....

I used one of the Circle Assortment Designer Brads for this card. To create some interest I added Red Riding Hood Red ink with the blender pen to the circles. Once I got the color there I added a light coat of Crystal Effects to seal it. The flower on the stamped image is also colored with Red Riding Hood Red ink and the blender pen. The main stamped image is embossed with clear embossing powder.

Because it's Labor Day I'm going to share one of our favorite new salads this summer. It is fabulous!!!

Asian Noodle Salad

Salad:
1 packages linguine noodles, cooked, rinsed, and cooled
1/2 to 1 head sliced Napa cabbage
1/2 to 1 head sliced purple cabbage
1/2 to 1 bag baby spinach
1 red bell pepper, sliced thin
1 yellow bell pepper, sliced thin
1 orange bell pepper, sliced thin
1 small bag bean sprouts
3 sliced scallions
1 peeled, sliced cucumber
chopped cilantro-to taste
1 can whole cashews, lightly toasted in skillet

Dressing:
Juice of 1 lime
8 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons sesame oil
6 tablespoons soy sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons fresh ginger, chopped
2 cloves chopped garlic
2 hot peppers or jalapenos, chopped

Mix together salad ingredients in LARGE bowl. Whisk together dressing ingredients and pour over salad. Mix with tongs and serve in a big bowl or platter.

I dressed this salad right away and think I should of left out the spinach until just before serving.

There is a picture of this salad on my food blog. Recipes, Food and Cooking

Enjoy!
