It's not long until Halloween now and I wanted to make a
Halloween banner. I got the pieces cut out and then got stuck! I had not
idea of what I wanted to do to finish it. I had cut out the Frankenstein
pieces to make a gift bag when it hit how perfect on the banner they would
be. I had made the witch's hats the day before for a Halloween tree I am
going to share with you next week. You can make this banner easily in a
couple of hours.
Supplies Needed:
3 pieces Black Cardstock
Designer Paper - 1 1/2 sheets for banners - extra for decorating and BOO - I
used Ghostly Greeting DSP
1 piece Kiwi Kiss CS
Elegant Eggplant CS and Black for Hair
1 Rhinestone Brad
White Cardstock for Eyes
Pumpkin Pie Ribbon
Jumbo Eyelets
Sizzix Top Note Bigz Die
Sizzix Pennant Bigz Die
Sizzix Scallop Circle Bigz Die
Sizzix Serif Essentials Dies
Round Tab Punch
1 inch Circle Punch
1/4 inch Circle Punch
My Way Punch
White Signo Pen
Black Marker
Tombrow Glue
Mini Glue Dots
To make the banner pieces - cut 3 pieces using the Sizzix
large banner die out of Black CS. Then cut 3 pieces out of the Ghostly
Greetings DSP. You can get 2 banners out of a 12 x 12 piece by cutting the
paper on the diagonal and then folding the paper in half.
After cutting your banner pieces, cut the scalloped edge
off of the Ghostly Greetings DSP as shown below. Then you are going to
attach the Ghostly Greetings DSP to the black banner.
Fold back the top edge and tape down.
You will then attach the Jumbo Eyelets using the Crop-a-dile
to each corner. This will give you stronger corners and a more finished
look. Attach your ribbons after you decorate the banners.
Decorate your banner as desired. I used the Top Note Bigz
Die to make Mr. and Mrs. Frankenstein. I used the Sizzix Scallop Dies to
make the Witch's Hats.
To make Frankenstein, cut a piece of Kiwi Kiss and Black
CS using the Top Note Bigz Die. Cut the nose using the Round Tab Punch.
Sponge lightly with Kiwi Kiss. Cut 1 Kiwi Kiss circle with the 1 inch punch
for the eyelids. Cut in half and sponge lightly. Cut 2 white circles using
the 1 inch punch. Cut 2 black circles using the 1/4 inch punch. Cut a rough
edge for the hair using the black Top Note Bigz Die. Glue down the pieces
for your face. Using a marker draw in mouth and a couple of scar lines. Cut
2 arrows using the My Way punch out of Kiwi Kiss and attach to side of face.
Put a white dot in the eye using the White Signo Pen. Attach a bow with a
rhinestone brad in the center for Mrs. Frankenstein.
To make the witch's hats cut a scallop circle from the
Pennant Die. Cut a large scallop circle using the large Scallop Circle Bigz
Die. Cut this piece in half. Roll this piece slightly with your fingers to
get some bend it. Roll it into the shape of a cone. Attach with Sticky Tape
on one edge. Fold in scallop tabs. Apply Tombrow Glue and attach to smaller
scallop circle to make the hat. Cut a 1/4 inch piece of designer paper about
5 inches long. Run it thru the crimper. Put it around the hat attaching with
glue dots.
