Trendy Trees Card

Jan. 28, 09

I did another challenge today, this one was a layout challenge. I had an easier time with this card than yesterdays. I used Raspberry Tart again. When I got this paper I was a little taken back by the colors and patterns and thought I may never use this, I have really been surprised by how versatile it is. The stamps are a new set called Trendy Trees.

I used Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds on the large flower and the center of the smaller flowers.

Where's the Coffee?

Jan. 27, 09

I saw this little basket online and since I use the same filters I made one the other day. It is an easy and cute Valentine project. You start with a Number 4 Coffee filter.

After picking out my designer paper, Candy Lane, I traced out the filter on the paper with a pencil. I cut it a 1/4 inch bigger to leave room for trimming. I used a glue stick to affix the paper to the filter. I then trimmed it. I cut a 6 inch piece of ribbon and affixed it with brads and a piece of card stock punched out with the Designer Label Punch. I used the new 3 Heart Punch to cut out the hearts around the border of the basket.

Thoughts and Prayers Card

Jan. 24, 09

My new stuff from Stampin' Up! arrived yesterday finally and I ran right in my stamp room to play with all of my new stuff. I really ove the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set and especially the tree image. By the way, you can also get the tree image in our Decor Elements line. How cool is that?

I used our new Chocolate Chip Corduroy Buttons, our new Eyelet Border Punch and our yummy Raspberry Tart DSP. The buttons here are actually brads making them very easy to use.

Project:   Thoughts and Prayers Card
Paper: Shimmery White CS, Vanilla CS, Close to Cocoa CS and Raspberry Tart DSP
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip
Stamp Set: Thoughts and Prayers stamp set
Accessories: Chocolate Chip Corduroy Buttons, New Eyelet Border Punch, Kiwi Kiss Ribbon

Tip: Did you know you can use Acetate Sheets found in office stores to make a template for all of your sayings to use with the Stamp-a-ma-Jig? I cut the acetate pieces a little bigger than I need and then stamp the saying on the acetate. I then line it up on my card and use the Stamp-a-ma-Jig to stamp my saying. Now I have no more crooked sayings! I then put my piece of acetate in the box so it is there to use again.

Top Note Purse Tutorial

Jan. 23, 09

Last night I got out my Big Shot and made this cute purse for a friend. I had planned to stamp all afternoon with new stuff but my order was delayed and is not coming until today. I have seen this purse on the web but do not know who designed it. This one is filled with Dove Valentine Chocolates.

To start you need:
2 pieces cut with the Top Note Die using Designer Paper - I used Candy Lane
1 piece of cardstock cut to 4" x 5-1/2
Oval Punch
Wide Oval Punch
Felt Flowers
Petals Pizzaz stamp set
Brads
Ribbon
Red Sticky Tape

Score on all 4 sides 1 inch from edges. Use your bone folder and crease edges.

Cut into the long side up to the crease, Place tape on each corner.

Fold up the corners on the cardstock so that your base looks like the one above. On the short ends I bent the pieces in slightly with a light crease in the center. Set this piece aside.

Cut 2 pieces of designer paper with the Top Note Die.

Punch a small oval on a strip of paper. Center the wide oval and punch again to create the purse handle. Glue this piece on the Top Note where you want your handle to be. Punch out the center with the smaller punch. Decorate your front as desired. I used Flowers stamped from Petals Pizzaz, felt flowers and brads.

Place 2 strips of sticky tape on the long side of the base. Attach the Top Note Pieces to the front and back.

Side view of purse finished.

Cupcake Card

Jan. 22, 09

I have a friend who is having a birthday soon and I needed a card for her and this card is what I came up with. I used Bella Rose DSP and Simple Birthday Thanks.

I masked the center on the cupcake stamp on the Bella Rose DSP and stamped the frosting on Pink Pirouette. I glittered the dots with Red Glitter and let it dry. I then used 2 way glue and covered the entire frosting area and added Dazzling Diamonds. I used Crystal Effects on the cherry. I also used Dimensionals for the frosting to give it a 3D effect.

Close up so you can see the glitter better.

Project:  Cupcake Card
Paper: Bella Rose DSP, Pink Pirouette CS
Ink: Rose Red, Kiwi Kiss
Stamp Set: Simple Birthday Thanks and Party Hearty
Accessories: 2 Way Glue, Dazzling Diamonds, Dimensionals, Martha Stewart Red Glitter, Red Riding Hood Ribbon, Crystal Effects

I got out my Sizzix Big Shot and made a couple of Valentine treats for my friends kids. I used the new Candy Lane DSP from the new catalog available on Jan. 19th. The Diaper Fold Pouch was made using these instructions.

Petals Pizzaz and a New Puppy

Jan. 15, 09

We have a new puppy who has kept me from stamping this week and today I am going to stamp all day finally! This card was on my desk waiting to be finished all week. This set comes in the new catalog which is available next week. The new catalog is really Fabulous and I already have my list waiting for ordering to go live.

Project: Petals Pizzaz Card
Paper: White CS, Pretty In Pink, Shimmery White
Ink: White Craft Ink, Old Olive, Pretty In Pink
Stamp Set: Love You Much and Petals Pizzaz
Accessories: Three Heart Punch, Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon

So here are Lola and Chloe in their playpen. They are sisters, Lola looks her father and Chloe looks like her mom. Chloe is the sweetest little thing, she is 4 months old and only weights 2 1/4 lbs. The bottom of her paws looks like she has been stamping in the black ink. I have yet to discover if Chloe loves designer paper as much as her sister, if she does I am in real trouble. They are Shorkies, which is half Yorkshire Terrier and Shitz Zu.

I Just Can't Stop - Another Valentine!

Jan. 6, 09

There is still time to order this set from the Mini Catalog. I find it is a set I keep going to and have really enjoyed using it. It can only be ordered until Jan. 18th if you want it unless it makes the new catalog.

The flowers are stamped on Shimmery White paper, which I just love. I almost always stamp on it when I need a white background image. The tangerine tango flower is punched out and raised on a dimensional. You can't really see it in the picture but the images that appear to be blowing in the wind are tiny hearts, how fun is that?

Jan. 3, 09

I'm back and boy have I missed you!!! I left you in November expecting to be gone a week and it is now 6 weeks later. I finally have gotten into my stamp room to do some stamping. A couple of weeks after my 2nd knee replacement surgery I fell and badly sprained my foot on the other leg. What fun that was! I am so glad 2009 is here!!!

Please check the monthly archives on the right for more cards and projects.
