Faux Silk Technique

August 17, 2008

I choose Inspired By Nature to do this technique. I saw it done at Convention and just had to try it.

1. Cut a piece of tissue paper just a little bit larger than your image.

2. Color your stamp. In this case, I colored with markers, shown here.

3. I next stamped directly onto the tissue paper. I used mellow moss for the grass and markers for the flowers, so saffron, old olive and chocolate chip.

4. Next you want to wad up your tissue paper tightly. That's right, was it up.

5. I then cut a piece of whisper white CS the size a 1/4 inch larger than I wanted my image to be. I used Anywhere Glue Stick on the card stock and covered it all. Then I gently unwrapped the tissue paper and placed it where I wanted it on the card stock. I used my bone folder to gently smooth it out. Use your trimmer and cut the image to the right size.

6. Mount your image and finish your card.

On this card the Live with Passion was stamped in Old Olive and punched out with our new Large Oval Punch. Then I used the Anywhere Glue Stick again on the tissue this time and then laid it across the tag. I re-punched the tag next. Sponge the edges with Old Olive. I put 2 holes in the tag and attached the ribbon. I used Dimensionals to attach the Live With Passion tag.

Here is a close up of the card so you can see what it is supposed to look like.

Tah Dah! You are finished.

I hope you enjoyed this technique!
